Fall Closet Prep: Easy Boot Storage

Fall Closet Prep: Easy Boot Storage

Closet Boot Storage Isn’t One-Size-Fits-All

As you update your closet’s shopping zone for the coming season, it’s time to make room for fall boots! Boot storage is a common concern for new clients. Booties often fit next to sneakers on a typical shoe rack, but taller boots require more space. Closet solutions by Closets of Tulsa offer a number of flexible options for boot storage, depending on available space and the types of boots you need to store.

Boot Storage Option 1: Lay Them Flat

When we see boots on display at the store, they’re standing up. When they fall over, sales people stand them back up. This works well for retail, but your closet should reduce the time and energy it takes to stay organized! When you buy boots, they’re laying down, neatly nested in their box. This is how we recommend storing some styles of boots on your shoe rack.

When you’re ready to put summer sandals away for the season, donate what you aren’t loving and move the rest to storage baskets or boxes at the top or bottom of your closet. Your soon-to-be-empty boot boxes are a great option—bonus points if there’s space in the garage or attic for them! The narrow shelves where you stored your sandals are the perfect place for your tall boots. You might not even need to adjust your shelves!

Fill the boot calves with rolled up magazines, pool noodles or boot shapers to keep them in good condition. Nest them on the shelf just like they’re laying in a boot box. You will see the heel and calf, and because they have been in their box all summer, they won’t be dusty. If your boots could use a boost, drop them off at your local shoe repair shop before you’ll need to wear them.

Store taller boots horizontally to eliminate having to constantly set them back upright. Have questions? Call Closets of Tulsa today for a FREE Consultation & 3-D Closet Design: 918.609.0214

Boot Storage Option 2: Hang Them on Accessory Clips

Boots with flexible calves can sometimes be hung together on accessory clips. See the example on the right in the image below. If you’re shopping for accessory clip hangers at home, don’t forget to use our promo code to save some cash. It's easy:

Boot Storage Option 3: Stand Them Up

Some styles of boots stand up easily on their own and might feel too bulky to store on clips or horizontally. As with the boots on the left in the image above, this includes rain boots, sturdy winter boots and cowboy boots. Our adjustable shoe shelves make it easy to accommodate stand-up boot storage of any height.
