Mother nature fooled many of us in the PNW into thinking that summer was over

But this week the sun came out to play and we got a fall heat wave!

Dressing for this type of weather is really interesting because the days reach their peak temperature in the afternoon and it only lasts for a few hours. That means long, cool mornings, hot afternoons, and cool sunsets. This requires outfits that blend the seasons. It takes a little more thought than dressing in the middle of summer or the middle of fall, but there is a lot of room for creativity. Here’s a look at what I wore this week!

MONDAY

On Monday, I wore an outfit inspired by something I saw on TikTok. Mostly, just the tied shirt and jeans part. Her shirt was a bit oversized and tied at the waist and it was super cute, which inspired me to play around in my closet. These jeans were a rare impulse buy off the clearance rack after I was feeling sad about Doen’s flare jeans not being a good fit. I like how much shape these have and I think it will be a welcome change up in my straight-leg-winter-pant rotation. They’re a bit bolder than I usually wear, but I’m trying to get better at following my instincts.

OUTFIT DETAILS:
Cardigan (M), c/o Everlane
Button up, old from my husband’s closet
Patch Pocket Flare Jeans (27), Citizens of Humanity
Midform Sandals (10), Teva
Fisherman Tote, Esby

TUESDAY

Speaking of following instincts, let’s dive in a little more on that topic. Do you follow yours when you get dressed? Or are you afraid of where they might lead you? For me the answer to both of these questions is ‘yes’.

Often the outfits I love the most, and feel the most at home in, are the ones that push the limits of my style. Those outfits make me feel like I am forging my own style path and I am often nervous to go ‘against the flow.’ Like I worry about being judged or bringing too much attention to myself. Totally silly right? But understandable. However, I feel like we can shape our personal style the best when we lean into our instincts, even when they scare us a little bit. Reward always requires the presence of risk. Plus, life is short, wear the outfit!

I knew I wanted to pair these two patterns together because they have the same color palette and tones. It seemed like it would be fun and interesting. I put them both on and immediately loved them, but then felt sort of intimidated to wear the outfit out of the house. After some thought, and through sharing on Instagram, I decided to just go for it!

OUTFIT DETAILS:
Cardigan no19 (one size), Babaà Knitwear
Ana Top (S), ESBY
Shorts, Madewell
Ralf Boots (10), Freda Salvador

WEDNESDAY

This week I pre-planned my outfits, as in the night before, and it really helped me get dressed in satisfying ensembles. On Wednesday, I wore these overalls, which I have quickly come to love, and I had this vision of wearing them with a cute puffy blouse. But I should have listened to my friend Jaana who told me that puffy blouses underneath can be bothersome. I ended up swapping it out for a tank top in the afternoon (it was hot anyway), but I think I’d try it again with another flowy top on a different day.

It’s really hard to be grumpy in overalls and it made for a good day. The shoes are super awesome. I’ll be sharing more in this Saturday’s style session on Instagram!

OUTFIT DETAILS:
Anita Boho Blouse (M), c/o ABLE (use ANDREA20 to save 20%)
Straight Leg Overalls (S), Madewell
Sneakers, c/o Thousand Fell

THURSDAY

I decided I needed some full-length dresses in my life. And this one is the closest thing I have to that already in my closet. (Though, normally, I wear it without the lower tier attached.) I have this idea of dreamy dresses paired with sneakers or flat boots. And since we are at home most days, all day, I can afford to be less practical with my outfit selections. This outfit was a fun changeup from what I normally wear.

OUTFIT DETAILS:
Texture Cardigan (M), Everlane
Tiered Wrap Dress (S), c/o Vetta (also seen here and here)
Sneakers, c/o Thousand Fell

FRIDAY

Oops, I accidentally wore these sneakers three days in a row. I didn’t realize that until I looked at all the pictures together. I really, really like them. They are made from natural materials including a ‘bio-leather’ with a quartz coating that makes them stain-proof and water-resistant. But I keep reaching for them because they are super comfy. They have a deep, cushy sole and the top is soft enough that it hasn’t required any breaking in so far. AND this shoe is 100% recyclable. At the end of your shoe’s life you can send them back to Thousand Fell where they will pull them apart and recycle all the elements! Super cool.

OUTFIT DETAILS:
Linen Puff-Sleeve Top, 6, c/o Everlane
90s Pinch Waist Jeans, 27
Sneakers, c/o Thousand Fell

Thanks for reading along! I hope you guys have a great weekend!
